Go! Game! Music! (GGM):
At what age did you become interested in music?

Kou Hayashi:
At 12 years old, It began from making music to perform by TOSHIBA CORP. MSX machine.

Daisuke Nagata:
I don't remember...hmm...about 10 or 11?

GGM:
How did you become interested in creating game music?

Kou Hayashi:
10 yeas old. Since the NAMCO "Video Game Graffiti" listened to with a cassette tape.

Daisuke Nagata:
Playng games,and reading magazines...

GGM:
What your process for creating the music for CHAOS FIELD?

Kou Hayashi:
Hmmm...I seldom remember. I talked with other staff very much. The many conversations inspired the music.

Daisuke Nagata:
Making sound samples from drum machine,breakbeats etc..
and creating rhythm loops. ...it is difficult for me to explain.
I with draw into myself.

GGM:
What did you like most about creating the CHAOS FIELD's music? What did you like least??

Kou Hayashi:
The world which I visualized was able to be expressed to sound for the first time. As Nagata-san said. "Our meetings are very, very, very long!!"

Daisuke Nagata:
I like everything about creating music. I do not like long long meetings.(lol)

GGM:
What is your favorite music on CHAOS FIELD? Why?

Kou Hayashi:
I think tracks for stage 4 and 5. The tracks are very comples with many sound trick that make them interesting.

Daisuke Nagata:
My favorite song is stage 4 and 5. Because I could collaborate with Hayashi on these tracks.

GGM:
Why do you create music?

Kou Hayashi:
It is because I want to give many people great game music.

Daisuke Nagata:
Because i want to listen to my loops.

GGM:
How did you and Daisuke Nagata work on creating the music?

Kou Hayashi:
I delibertly worked in silence. Of course, Nagata was consulted when desicions had to be made.

GGM:
Who are some of your favorite composers?

Kou Hayashi:
Richie Hawtin. Beroshima. Cibo Matto. Fat Boy Slim. and me.

Daisuke Nagata:
Rupert Parkes (a.k.a. PHOTEK).

GGM:
What is your dream project?

Kou Hayashi:
I want to assemble the game music composer of the world and to do a big club party with high volume.

GGM:
What makes a good composer? What could we learn from you about composing music?

Kou Hayashi:
Investigate a favorite thing thoroughly. Since music is a living thing, listening to it is always continued. Keep it up.

Daisuke Nagata:
Listening to many many musics. Watch many many pictures, films etc. Music is not the only important element in a game.
